This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night. Joshua 1:8
MEDITATION on the divine law day and night is
not, of course, to be understood literally—that we
should do nothing else day or night than think upon
the Scriptures.
We are to understand the Lord to
mean that we should ever have in mind, in connection
with all of life's affairs, the thought that we are his,
and that he is our guide and director in all things,
and that the slightest matter that would pertain to our
lives and our interests, day or night, should be undertaken
with due consideration of the Lord's will respecting
