[Songs in the Night - September 5]
[Love] doth not behave itself unseemly. I Corinthians 13:5
HAVE I the love which is courteous, "doth not behave
itself unseemly?"
Pride is the root out of which
grows much of the unseemly conduct, impoliteness, so
common to those who think themselves somebody,
either intellectually or financially.
Politeness has been
defined as love in trifles; courtesy as love in little
things.
The secret of politeness is either surface
polishing or love in the heart.
As Christians we are
to have the heart love which will prompt us to acts
of kindness and courtesy, not only in the household
of faith, but in our homes and in our dealings with
the world. Z'11-422 R4918:2 (Hymn 267)
